Options in Life’s pop-up café in Ceres will soon serve customers a filling lunch and hot drink of their choice for only £1 per person to support Fifers during the cost-of-living crisis.
The Fife charity that supports young people who have learning disabilities, opened its pop-up café within the Village Café in Ceres Fife in 2018, serving delicious homemade soups, sandwiches and a fantastic selection of sweet treats. The pop-up café, which is essentially a work experience project for our young people, soon became a favourite with locals wanting to show their support.
Rob Burns – Projects Coordinator for Options in Life said:
“The Options in Life pop-up café has been one of many successful initiatives launched by our small charity to support young adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs to build the skills and confidence to help them to thrive within their local community.
It has become apparent in recent months however, that our pop-up café can do more to support its customers and the wider community. By offering a warm bowl of soup, a toastie or panini and a hot drink for only £1, we can ensure that locals can get a good meal and friendly and warm place to visit, where they will be greeted by our enthusiastic volunteers.”
From January 10th 2023, anyone can visit the pop-up café between 10am and 3pm, every Tuesday, to get the £1 deal. You do not need to ask for the deal, as anyone ordering a lunch and hot drink will automatically be charged only £1. This initiative has been made possible due to funding support from Fife Council.
Rob Burns added:
“If you can afford a bit more, we would be delighted to receive a donation of a pound or two to help us continue this initiative longer than the 6 months that we plan to run the deal. The Village Café in Ceres has been incredibly kind to allow us to set up our café each week and they too offer a wide range of support to locals, out with our pop-up café on a Tuesday. I would urge anyone to visit the café any day of the week and you will get a wonderful and caring service”
