SPONSORED WALK
SATURDAY 22ND SEPTEMBER
route

JOHN VAN DIEKEN walked from North Queensferry to Lower Largo on Saturday 22nd September, to raise funds for Options In Life. Congratulations, and well done John – we’re proud of you ! John said he was grateful to Dougie and his cousin, John Gubby (another Gas Man, Service Engineer with British Gas), for getting him through. He said he’d never have managed it himself, not in in one go anyway. They walked 30.33 miles, in a little under 13 hours, 6.50am – 7.40pm, and their efforts have raised around an amazing amount for Options In Life.

John works for Scotland Gas Networks, who also sponsored the walk. He is currently part of the company’s Fit Club, 12 employees given assistance to lose weight and get fit.

His gym activity has led him to be much more active so he decided to do the walk for himself and raise money for our Charity at the same time. John lost 2lb during the walk, despite the energy bars and drinks. He has now lost a total of 4st 3lb.

John has his own site which is tracking his progress  www.johninreallife.co.uk
