In 2019, we launched our pop-up cafe project in Ceres, Fife. The aim of the project was to give young adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs the opportunity to build real life experience of working in a cafe environment that is open to the public.
Every Wednesday, our young adults, that have an interest in working in a cafe setting, have been volunteering in the cafe and learning lots of valuable skills like customer service, cash handling, using a professional barista machine and attending training in food hygiene and first aid.
Our pop-up cafe serves fresh home made foods and sweet treats and has won the affections of the local community. We now have a loyal customer base and a safe haven for our service users to visit with their friends and family too.
Due to the success of the project we have decided that we will trial an additional day per week. From September 2021 we will be open every Tuesday and Wednesday between 10am and 3pm.
