We are delighted to announce that we have received a grant from the RBS Skills and Opportunities fund towards the running of our Recreation Programme. We would like to thank not only RBS but everyone who voted for us and encouraged others to do so – your support was invaluable!
Options was one of only a handful of causes to receive funding, with more than a thousand applications submitted, and one of only two charities in our area. The funding will be delivered over the course of the next year and will be used to support and expand our successful Recreation Programme.
Our Recreation Programme provides support for young people in Fife with learning disabilities and other special and complex needs. We encourage our service users to gain new experiences and interests, while developing life and social skills as part of a group of their peers. We have found the emphasis on interacting with peers, an integral part of our Programme, to be both unique and essential in encouraging our young people to become more confident and to make friends.
These weekly outings have become an important source of support and respite for our service users and their families. Grants such as this allow us to continue and even expand our activities, providing much needed support for local families.
